When you tap a notification while you are in a chat, the new chat opens on top, and now every message goes to the chat on your screen: back in the first chat, sending reaches the person you were writing to.
Why it matters
Notifications arrive while you are busy in another conversation. Opening one must never turn the chat you come back to into a way to message someone else: what you write has to reach the person whose chat you see.
- Before
- After a notification opened a chat over the one you were in, sending in the first chat could deliver your message to the person from the notification.
- Now
- Messages, replies and mentions stay with the chat they were written in, also after a notification opened another chat on top of it.
What you get
- The right person: back in the chat you were in, your message reaches that person, never the one from the notification.
- The chat on top works fully: the chat a notification opens shows its own messages and sends from its own message box.
- Replies stay put: a reply you start in the chat on top quotes a message of that chat and is sent there.
- Groups too: a name you tap in a group message goes into the message box of that group, and every group sends to itself.
How to use it
Nothing to switch on: it works in chats with people and groups in VEP on your iPhone or iPad home screen and in phone and tablet browsers.
