When you tap a notification while you are in a chat, the new chat opens on top, and now it has every tool of its own: hold the mic to record, add a caption to a photo, start a poll in a group and see when the other person is typing.
Why it matters
Notifications arrive while you are busy in another conversation. The chat they open is a full chat: answering there has to work the same way as in a chat you open from your list.

- A chat a notification opened over another one had no voice message button, photo caption, settings or poll button, and missed typing and live messages.
- Now
- The chat on top has every tool of its screen, and the chat under it keeps its own: voice messages, photos, typing and slow mode stay with their chat.
What you get
- Voice messages: hold the mic in the chat on top to record; the recording bar and the message stay in that chat.
- Photo captions: a photo you pick in the chat on top opens the caption screen and goes to the person of that chat.
- Typing and live messages: you see when the person in the chat on top is typing, and messages that come straight from their device appear at once.
- Groups: the poll and message settings buttons are there, the slow mode of that group applies, its info shows its permissions, and the group under it counts down its own slow mode.
How to use it
Nothing to switch on: it works in chats with people and groups in VEP on your iPhone or iPad home screen and in phone and tablet browsers.
