Signing in to VEP on your iPhone home screen now finishes inside the app. An expired sign-in opens the sign-in page, Google sign-in comes back to VEP, and a weak network does not sign you out.
Why it matters
VEP on your home screen should work like any other app on your phone. When you need to sign in again, you get a clear way back in, and a weak signal on the move does not cost you your sign-in.
- Before
- An expired sign-in could leave the home screen app stuck on a reconnecting screen with no button, and Google sign-in started there could end outside the app.
- Now
- VEP on your home screen opens the sign-in page when your sign-in has expired, and Google sign-in started there finishes in the app, with a code if needed.
What you get
- A way back in: when your sign-in has expired, VEP on your home screen opens the sign-in page with a short note. In a browser, the screen that says your sign-in expired now offers a link to sign in.
- Google comes back to VEP: if iPhone opens the Google page in a separate sheet, that sheet ends with a six-digit code that you type in VEP to finish signing in.
- For newcomers: the sign-in page now has a link to create an account.
- Waits for the network: on a weak or missing network, VEP waits for the connection and carries on when it is back, without signing you out.
How to use it
Sign in when VEP asks
When your sign-in has expired, VEP opens the sign-in page. Sign in the way you usually do: with your code, your username and password, or Google.
Sign in with Google
Tap Google and choose your Google account. When Google finishes inside VEP, you are signed in.
If Google opens in a separate sheet
The sheet ends with a six-digit code. Tap Done to close the sheet, then type the code in the box VEP shows to finish signing in.
New to VEP
On the sign-in page, tap Create an account and follow the steps.
Good to know
- If the code no longer works, start the Google sign-in again.
- Type the code only into VEP on the same iPhone and never share it: anyone who has the code can sign in to your account.
- With no network, there is nothing to tap: VEP carries on by itself when you are back online.
