VEP shows how to add it to your iPhone or iPad home screen

For everyone who works with an AI employee

Part of Chat with your AI employees on your phone and tablet

In Safari or another browser on an iPhone or iPad, VEP now offers the steps that add it to your home screen at the top of your chats and in settings, so it opens from its own icon like an app.

Why it matters

An iPhone or iPad has no install button for websites, so many people never learn that VEP can live on their home screen. Added there, VEP opens from its own icon like any other app and, on iOS 16.4 or later, shows notifications for new messages and calls.

Before
On an iPhone or iPad, only the notifications page in settings showed these steps, and nothing at the top of your chats said VEP could live on your home screen.
Now
VEP in Safari or another iPhone or iPad browser shows a short card and a settings page with the steps that add it to your home screen.

What you get

  • A short card at the top of your chats: in Safari or another browser on an iPhone or iPad, a one-time card offers the steps. Once you open the steps or close the card, that browser does not show it again.
  • Always in settings: a settings page with the same steps stays in VEP in that browser, also after the card is gone.
  • Steps for your browser: Safari gets its own steps, with the extra taps that iOS 26 can need. On iOS 16.4 or later, Chrome, Firefox and Edge add VEP from their own share button, with Safari as the way back.
  • Help inside other apps: in the built-in browser of some apps, which cannot add VEP, VEP says to open it in Safari first. The Safari steps also say what to do when the option to add VEP is missing.
  • Also from notifications: in a browser on an iPhone, where notifications cannot work, the notifications page shows the steps and links to the full page.
  • Only where it helps: VEP on your home screen, the native VEP app, Android phones and computers show neither the card nor the settings page.

How to use it

  1. Open the steps in VEP

At the top of Chats, tap Show me how on the card, or open Settings and tap Install the app. Once you have opened the steps or closed the card, that browser shows no card again; Install the app stays in Settings.

  2. Add it from Safari

In Safari, with your chats on the screen, tap Share; if you do not see it, tap More (•••) first. Tap Add to Home Screen; if it is not in the list, scroll down or tap View More. Keep Open as Web App on if you see it, and tap Add.

  3. Or add it from Chrome, Firefox or Edge

On iOS 16.4 or later, tap Share in that browser, or find it in the browser's menu. Tap Add to Home Screen, scrolling down or tapping View More if it is not in the list, then tap Add. If VEP then opens in that browser, add it from Safari as in the step above.

  4. Open VEP from its icon

Tap the VEP icon on your home screen and sign in once if VEP asks. If you sign in with a code, type the code. On iOS 16.4 or later, then turn on notifications in Settings > Notifications.

Good to know

  • In the built-in browser of some apps, VEP asks you to open vep.live in Safari first: look for Open in Safari in that app's menu.
  • If Add to Home Screen is not there at all, even after View More, VEP may be open inside another app. Open vep.live in Safari and follow the steps there.
  • If VEP was on your home screen before, delete its icon. Then open vep.live in Safari, sign in and add VEP again from your chats to get the new name, icon and dark start screen.
  • VEP on your home screen, the native VEP app, Android phones and computers do not show the card or Install the app.
