Topics stay fast as your chats grow
Chats with many topics stay fast as they grow: the topic list, the General tab and the unread badges of long chats now open in a fraction of the time they used to.
What you get
- In our tests on a chat with 200,000 messages and 100 topics, the topic list opens in 1.4 seconds instead of 8.1, and the General tab in about 40 milliseconds instead of over 2 seconds.
- Unread badges for 50 chats with 100 topics each are counted in under 0.6 seconds instead of 6.8. A change refreshes only the topics it touches, and if a refresh fails, the next one reloads everything, so badges do not stay wrong.
- Each chat holds up to 100 topics. New Topic and the Topics page show how many you have used, for example 37 of 100. At 100 the + button is off, and the page explains that removing a topic frees a place, while closing one does not.
- When a topic cannot be added, the message names the limit you reached: 100 topics in a chat, or 20 topics on one message.
- On phones and tablets, from 8 topics on, the Topics page and Move to Topic get a search field. On a computer, the topic menus follow the keyboard: type to find, use the arrow keys, Home and End, and the chosen item scrolls into view.
- In early access for selected companies.
